G-BA
The Federal Joint Committee
The Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) is a joint self-governing panel of doctors, hospitals, and health insurances. While the law provides the framework,it is the duty of this self-governing panel to fill in the details. The content should ensure implementation of the lawful specifications in daily practice. The legal foundation for this is in the fifth social-law book, § 92.
Guidelines made by the G-BA have the character of being the legal norm. This means that public insured patients as well as their doctors and other service personnel involved are bound to the public insurance. The G-BA is regulated by the Federal Ministry for Health (BMG).
To fulfill their mission, the G-BA requires scientific support. The AQUA institute has taken up this task in the quality assurance division.
